Design Trends Pulse Check

Somehow April is here, and by now you’ve likely scrolled past numerous “interior design trends of 2025” articles. Trends can often feel impersonal, but we believe your space should reflect your unique story and values. We have our finger on the pulse of today’s design and are seeing an exciting shift in take place, moving beyond surface-level trends to something much deeper: a longing for richness, warmth and genuine human connection

To understand this shift, let’s look back at the design landscape of the 2010s. Stark whites, greys and other cool tones were prevalent, along with minimalist and open spaces. We’re calling this the “Apple Store Aesthetic.” Think of lots of white walls, minimalist décor, and sleek surfaces. While we at ABID still appreciate the principles of thoughtful minimalism, the pendulum is now swinging towards spaces that feel inherently more inviting and tactile. This move towards richness – think deep natural colors and materials you want to touch – feels like a direct response to a desire for more comforting and handcrafted environments. Perhaps the coolness of the previous decade, while aesthetically clean, lacked the emotional depth and sensory engagement many now crave in their homes. 

One would think societal progress would naturally lead to more modern, futuristic designs, as envisioned in tv shows like the Jetsons or Severance. Instead, we’re seeing a real focus on the past and what fosters human connection and experience. Ultimately, we want spaces that make us feel something.
